Talk by Yakov Korer

Following Yakov Korer’s thought-provoking talk during last year’s Leytonstone Arts Trail - “What is Jewish Art?” – the artists of Leytonstone and Wanstead Synagogue are invited to contribute artworks responding to the question “Is it Jewish Art?”. A varied group of submissions will be brought together by curator Odette Gaba for one evening only.

Private view will begin at 7:00pm, followed by a talk from Yakov Korer at 8:30pm.

For one day only, the Artists of Leytonstone and Wanstead Synagogue will once again show their work for the Leytonstone Arts Trail. Jewellers, Potters, Painters, Graphic designers, Printmakers and Photographers.

This year we will be debuting three budding young artists - Carlotta Rosmarin, Lucia Lewis and Yadida Gaba.

A look at different aspects of Jewish art to see if we can find any common threads. In particular, we will focus on the work of Komar and Melamid and discuss a speculative link between beauty and monotheism
